The Cave

So David departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam; and when his brothers and all his father’s household heard of it, they went down there to him. Everyone who was in distress, and everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him; and he became captain over them. Now there were about four hundred men with him.   (1 Sam. 22:1-2)

For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “LET HIM WHO BOASTS, BOAST IN THE LORD.”  (1 Cor. 1:26-31)

You might be able to relate to the above scriptures as those who are not very wise, or savvy…  even foolish in the eyes of the world. Like Christ, you may have been despised and rejected of men and their fancy “church” practices and programs. Father may have separated you from the system and you find yourself relating to David’s band of misfits, hiding out in Adullam’s cave as it were.

I am a part of a small fellowship group without a name, creed or denomination, meeting together in homes. We still get sent mail and “christian” literature and when they are holding a big conference or revival meeting of some sort they want to send an information package. They insist that we must have a name or a title for our “group” so one day one of us said its like we meet in a cave. So that is what came on the information package…  addressed to So-And_So from The Cave.

Periodically I will share insights from the cave with you that others in our group have shared. Trust you will be able to relate and will be blessed by what is shared among those who gather in the cave.
